So many bikes...so little time! And money...what a decision this would make, huh? I know where my loyalty lies, but that beemer's talking to me! There's a lot of dirt roads out there! :D

Well I've recently looked at BMW's with a guy I work with 'cause he owns 2 and I have to admit, the engeneering on them is quite impressive. It's not enough to sway me from my Harley but they are cool. There so much attention to detail. However, those are both heavy bikes IMHO to be riding on anything more than a fire road. Why not a Kawasaki KLR or something along those lines?

BMW's suck.

Only because I can't flat foot a single one of them and can't even reach the ground on most of them LOL They need to get their butts in gear and make something for the vertically challenged, which means for more women ;)

I don't like the position of the exhaust system on the Buell for off road. I'm sure it's plenty rugged (and they are heavy) stock but the aftermarket (and your gunna need that on the Buell) is gunna be thin (weight counts off road). I've ridden with the motards before and I do like them (they make great rabbits) but you can't beat a thumper for going dual sporting.

There's just something about those classic dirt/dual purpose bikes. I really like them. Maybe I'll try to find me one in really good shape.

My first bike was a Yamaha 400 thumper. Used to ride it on the roads then take it up to the high desert and beat it up. Like you said tough as nails.

The seat height on that BMW HP-2 is insane it's 36.22 inches!!! I saw one in a showroom and I thought only a giant could sit on that and actually touch the ground. My inseam is 34" and I could touch without standing tip toed.
