View Full Version : New Dyna for 2006
LeavenworthJeff 7th July 2005, 15:30 Rumor has it that the Motor Co. is coming out with a Dyna with blacked out treament, mini apes, solo seat and with a list price in the range of $13,500.00. Has anyone else heard of this? Sounds plausible.
Any other rumors out there for 2006? Also have heard at this time no EFI for the Sportsters in 2006 at this time.
Jeff
The only other thing that I've heard is that all the Dynas will get EFI. Too bad about the no-EFI on Sportsters.
mordak 7th July 2005, 19:37 I still would rather have a choice of EFI or Carb. It's one step closer to Kalifornia type EPA regs and catalytic convertors on a bike. YUCK!!!
RedRider 7th July 2005, 21:29 I guess it's just me being "old school", but I would prefer a carb vs EFI on a Sportster due to ease of tuning and repair. On a bagger, I would want EFI. Just my 2 cents...
Jack82 7th July 2005, 22:40 .......I wasn't a fan of EFI until I owned a bike that had it........I'm converted.....
Kelima 7th July 2005, 23:17 I like carbs also, have ridden a few BT's and like not having to wait for them to warm up before taking off. Living in the republic of Kalifornia I am already used to the smog standards on everything. As long as we don't have to smog our bikes every two years like our cars I can run w/ my pipes. It would be nice if they still have an option on the Dyna for EFI or carb.
MILKMAN 8th July 2005, 12:06 I have a Yost Carb kit. Runs like an EFI. Doesnt even need choke during warm weather.
albymangled 13th July 2005, 11:12 its all about emissions....
all HD's will end up with EFI for this reason more than any other.
all HD's will end up being watercooled too, like it or not as the noise emission regs get stricter there will be no way they can shut the aircooled engines up enuff to pass.
start getting that into those "old skool" heads.....
someday not too far down the track its goin to be fact.
me I'm just happy with my air cooled carbed bike.
:)
barry1967 20th July 2005, 01:42 Working at a dealership I have had the oportunity to ride almost everything. Let me tell you the EFI bikes are the shit.
I mean, turn the key, push the buttom and drive away. I only wish I had been able to find one that we could get at my dealership. I would have gotten EFI.
As far as the blacked out Dyna, haven't seen a word about it. They disco'd the FXDX which was the nighttrain of Dyna's for lackluster sales. I don't see them bringing in a solo version of the same ride. But that is just my opinion.
Basically the only real changes for 06 are all Dynas are EFI and some new colors for most models. Actually a boring yeasr for anything new. The dealer show is this weekend in Nevada I think, and we shall know more after that. I will keep you all posted on anything new I hear.

I'm glad to hear you say that. I got an 05 FXDI Chopper Blue (Fastest color HD makes) and I have been questioning my choice on the FI. Granted it is nice to wheel the bike out and hit the start button and the bike fires the first time every time. However I just put a set of SEII Slipon's on and I just ordered a Ness Big Sucker. I am really having a hard time trying to decide if I want to go with the StageI download or a TFI. I am pretty handy so the install of the TFI is not a problem but I am also quite anal and I suspect that setting the TFI correctly is going to drive me nuts.
lefty 21st July 2005, 00:19 SC Compact, I've got an '05 TC88B EFI. Went with V&H, SE breather and PCIII usb. Took me about 3 months playing w/fuel maps and manual settings to get it "near perfect" (no popping on decel, good mileage, good power, not too rich, not too lean) at all RPM. Dealer was about as much help as my year old grandaughter would be. . . If you are anal retentive, a race tuner, PCIII, etc. will drive you over the edge, but it's fun. . . .Also, I'm quite pleased that I went EFI, love throwing a leg over, hitting the start button and blasting off. Also love the tuning by laptop fun and games. . . .

Yeah I like the convenience and rideability of FI and yes I am quite anal retentive and I am scared that it will put me over the edge. I am thinking of trying the dealer download and depending on how it runs maybe going with the TFI/DFO if needed.
I leave for Sturgis on 08/06/05 so I do not weant to start mucking around with the bike just before I leave. I ordered a Ness Big Sucker today and I am thinking about installing it and getting the download done before I leave.

The dealer downloads are preprogrammed from HD and they still suck. They are still to lean to be real good but they still have to be EPA friendly. Find a shop that can dyno tune and reprogram your factory setup.
A good dyno tuner will help a ton or if you have the ability and patience like Lefty said you can try it yourself.
rande/melissa 5th September 2005, 05:07 barry, you are right, buddy had his night train done by the dealer and it pops and cracks on decel like you wouldn't believe..
